CHARACTER INFO

Character Name: Cecilia Lynne Adlehyde
Character Canon: Wild ARMs (and I suppose Wild ARMs: Alter Code F by extension)

History: The Wild ARMs wiki has information on Cecilia; in addition the article on the first game provides basically most of the details not mentioned there.

AU History: The Adlehyde family was one of Union's noble families, descended from the Savior. They stood among the Enlightened and showed a strong ability to bond with Pokemon, especially with females of their house. Their children were taught by private tutors, who helped them learn their abilities, the history of Union and mankind, and prepare for roles in the governance, economy, and security of the city.

Their one unique claim to fame was a small blue gem named the Tear Drop, after its shape. It was said to date back to shortly after the Savior, or shortly before. No one was quite sure. No one was even quite sure what it did, but family archives made it clear it was important.

Cecilia was much the same. She was the only child of her father and mother, and her mother died when she was very young. Cecilia showed potential as an Enlightened from a young age and was taught with an expectation that she would do some of the necessary exploration and defensive aspects of being a young Enlightened, and then settle down and get married. She was the only child of a noble house, which meant that certain expectations were placed on her. Her father and the servants were kind, but their expectations were high.

The plan was for Cecilia to join the Rangers, spend a couple of years working with them, and then she could retire to help manage the family's finances and get married. However, around the time of her eighteenth birthday, a festival that the Adlehyde family sponsored just outside the city's walls was attacked by powerful wild Pokemon. The attack was fierce, if not especially unique; a fair number of servants were killed, as well as festivalgoers.

Her father also died, and Cecilia wasn't able to save him. Worse, one of the attacking Pokemon took the Tear Drop from her father's corpse. Her family was left in shambles; their finances were heavily depleted, their heirloom was gone, and their social standing was in serious question. Cecilia decided she had to try to right things, and start by recovering the Tear Drop and making a reputation for herself.

Cecilia decided to go into the wilds, to try to find the Tear Drop, and improve her family's station by helping explore the world that they left behind.

Canon Personality: Cecilia is a young woman bound by her duty in Wild ARMs. She is the princess (the uncrowned queen, really) of a kingdom that just got brutally attacked, and forced to embark on a quest to save the world. Her entire life becomes oriented around this duty, and it's a weight baring down on her. Unsurprisingly, it has a very strong effect on her; Cecilia has to wrestle with whether people see her as a princess of herself.

She takes this duty very seriously. She is a determined, sacrificing young woman. She will put her life on the line -- and on hold -- to try to make the world a better place, to fight against Metal Demons, and to lead her people. She will throw herself into things without a second thought, at least not visibly.

This is in contrast to who Cecilia would be in a vacuum. At heart, she is not a serious-minded leader. She is an intellectual, but cheerful and outgoing young woman. She likes to talk with friends, to make friendships and get to know people, and she is supportive. She is also a little sassy and jokes around; Cecilia doesn't mind making a few wisecracks and the like, though she almost never gets mean about it.

Deeper than that, she's a strong-minded but kind young woman. She wants to love and be loved; she wants and values bonds that she forms with people, and the death of her father drove her just as much as the danger posed to Adlehyde.

This creates a lot of conflict within Cecilia. She wants both; she wants to be able to joke around, to laugh, to have friends, and be close to people as Cecilia. She also wants to do right by her people, to protect them, and make the world better as a princess. She feels she can't have both; that people will (and many did) see her as her title and family first, her true self second. Cecilia struggles with this.

She hasn't found a good answer yet. It means she can be insecure at times; she sometimes seeks validation from others, and she can let her doubts get the better of her and paralyze her. These insecurities aren't always easy for her to beat by herself.

Finally, Cecilia is a very impulsive person at heart. She feels the weight of duty and the desire for closeness, but she's not calculating and cautious about either. She will rush into things to find the quick answer to a situation, rather than always think of the best answer. She is prone to getting ahead of herself -- and worse, of dragging other people along with her, and making mistakes (like giving the Tear Drop in Wild ARMs to a demon named Berserk).

AU Deviation: The biggest difference is that Cecilia isn't a princess. She didn't have quite the same upbringing; she wasn't sequestered away at a monastery for her upbringing. She knows more about how Union works and is just a little savvier. She also doesn't have the same depth of responsibilities and wealth, but her motivations are similar: she wants to help her family and all the people who depend on it.

She also is not a uniquely chosen, fated individual meant to make contact with the world spirits. She is an Enlightened -- and a good one -- but she is ultimately one of many. The duty comes out in different ways because of that; she feels herself part of a whole much more. While the demands of her station are there, that station isn't above everyone else.

She is also eighteen instead of sixteen. This won't make much difference, to be honest, but is worth noting.

Canon Abilities: Cecilia is a Crest Sorceress. This means she is, in short, an RPG mage: she can use elemental attack spells, status effect spells, buffs, and healing spells. She does a lot of different elements. Her real ability of note is the power to summon Guardians; these are basically high-powered attack spells, similar to summoning Espers in the Final Fantasy series. She also can swing a staff at peoples' heads. It hurts about as much as it sounds like it would.

Enlightened Abilities: Cecilia's Types are Fairy and Ice. I picked these because, in the game, she's given the title "Innocent One" and has a unique connection to the spirits of the world. This seems fitting for a Fairy type. I picked Ice because, well, the first Guardian she gets is Schtudark, a water Guardian -- and she can cast any element in the game so I figured I better pick something. At Brave New World, it is necessarily limited!

Basically, Cecilia can produce and manipulate ice very well. She can send powerful blasts of frost of it at people; she can cause an area to slick up and freeze up, making the terrain treacherous and taxing. She can also hurl icicles and generally cause a mess with them.

She can also project fairy-type attacks as status effects; she can sometimes charm and confuse wild Pokemon. She can also send beams of energy (or orbs or the like) of a faintly pink color, owing to her second type.

Cecilia also carries a staff, which is actually a unique artifact with the Fire type. The real thing this lets her do is shoot fireballs from it; she does not have the control over water that she does otherwise, and it's obviously not nearly as strong as her innate attacks. This is based off the flame staff tool she has in Wild ARMs: Alter Code F.

Lastly, she has the Kindred Soul ability. This is because she is just simply in tune with Pokemon and nature; it's a call back to her status as the Guardian summoner and the Innocent One in her canon.

Starter Pokémon: She has an Eevee. She named it Raftina.

Notes/Special Considerations: I'm leaving what the Tear Drop does and who took it vague deliberately. In Wild ARMs, it's a tool that lets people access magically sealed areas and can cause a lot of chaos. Basically, I don't mind if the mods use it but don't have a specific idea; I may ask later, but will obviously go through proper channels there.

Also, lastly, it was a thing in her canon that Crest Sorceresses had to eat a lot to fuel their powers. I was gonna say that's the same for Cecilia's powers as an Enlightened; she can wolf down a lot of food.

SAMPLES

First-Person: [Cecilia's video feed comes online, showing the blonde-haired young woman standing there with her arms crossed behind her back. She looks at the video feed, then she flashes a bright smile.]

Good afternoon, everyone! I hope you're doing well. I know things have been busy and we all have a lot to focus on...

[They always do. Life in Union, especially for Enlightened, is busy.]

But the cafe on 18th Street has an all you can eat special and I highly recommend it. The hamburgers are delicious. I was there earlier but I may go again, so please, feel free to tell me if you're going. I would love to come with! I may just have a drink.

[She pauses, then coughs.]>

And a small snack.

Third-Person: Cecilia pulled her blue coat around her tighter. The wilderness got colder at night she thought, though she couldn't be sure. She dressed with enough layers to ward off the worst of the chill, and the idea of the dark wilds getting cold at night was a powerful one. She wondered how true that was. She wrinkled her nose while she walked, then put her hands into the pockets of her coat.

She knew she should stop for the night soon enough. While she walked, though, a bundle of fur swept around underneath the scarf she wore; then, the tiny head of an Eevee poked it out.

Raftina blinked her eyes at her. Cecilia turned her head and looked at Raftina, then flashed her a smile. It was easy to pick up on the Eevee's moods -- and vice versa, she knew -- and always had been. She tilted her head to the side, before she looked forward again.

"I know, Raftina," she said. She let out a soft sigh. "It is a little lonely out here."

The brown-furred animal looked back at her, not quite raising an eyebrow, but she still had a sympathetic loo in her eyes. She nudged her snout forward, then, brushing against Cecilia's cheek. She laughed, reached a hand up, and patted the Eeve on the head gently.
